TOGETHER IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS AND TIME OF PREVENTION "We in our Municipality decided to work with the Office for Emergency Management together in education of the population in this area-emphasized at a meeting with reporters president Novakovic. According to one Chinese saying "misfortune never comes alone" the rule is that the poorest people in these situations, due to poor quality of material objects and faulty electrical installations, usually suffer the most. In this we made sure this winter, when it came to natural disasters. According to the President Novakovic thanks to the understanding of the Municipal Emergency Management the Municipality has received fuel and food parcels, blankets for the most vulnerable residents. According to records of the Center for social welfare and municipal government more than 5000 citizens of Palilula barely make ends meet as a natural disaster only worsened the situation. The most important was, says Novakovic to reach the people in these situations because they were threatened to secure the right to existence - a basic human right. They helped us together with Serbian Army, Red Cross, socially responsible companies, but the help of the emergency to us was most needed. According to Zarko Damnjanovic, Chief of Emergency Management City of Nis, cooperation with local governments, civil society organizations is a priority of work. Here, when we talk about the fires in the open, the number of fires compared to last year increased by 50 percent, but when it comes to fires in buildings for now they are in slight increase - said the head of Damnjanović. In recent months, most fires were recorded on the facilities and hospitals in Toponica in the building at Starca Vujadina. The cause of both fires is a wiring fault, but often it is the human factor. One of the tasks of the Board is to educate people and performance demonstration exercise on high buildings or public buildings. Every month we have planned activities, unfortunately there is poor turnout of citizens and residents. That is why the level of cooperation between Palilula and Emergency Management is one we wanted, which is encouraging and we are very pleased with reported attention. |
